Since 2001 with the exception of 2005, the year the Yosemite high camps did not open due to record snow pack late in the season and 2012 for now forgotten reasons, in one form or another I’ve hiked the trails that connect these unique places. In prior blog posts I’ve described the experience.

This year with only 3 days separating the 3 week Alaska trip and for the 3rd year with my friend and workshop assistant James Morrissey of the NWP forum, we did roughly 30 miles in a week as we visited and photographed the areas around Sunrise, Merced Lake and Vogelsang high Sierra camps.
